Privacy Policy

This policy explains how HerdSetu ("HerdSetu") collects and uses your personal data, in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP). By using HerdSetu you consent to this processing; you can withdraw consent at any time (see your rights below).

What we collect

Account: mobile number, name, village/district/state, language preference.
Listings: animal details and photos you upload.
Messages: chats between buyers and sellers.
Usage & device: basic logs, IP address, and (if you allow) push-notification tokens.

Why we use it (purposes)

To run the marketplace: publish listings, enable chat, and send notifications.
To keep the platform safe: automated content checks, fraud/abuse prevention, and moderation.
To meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

Data sharing & processors

Your listing and, once you start a chat, your name are visible to the other party.
We use trusted processors: Amazon Web Services (hosting & storage, in the Mumbai region), Google Firebase (login OTP & notifications), and Anthropic(automated content checks & translation). Some may process data outside India under appropriate safeguards.
We do not sell your personal data.

Storage & retention

Data is stored in AWS Mumbai (ap-south-1). We keep data while your account is active and as required by law (for example, records of removed content and cancelled accounts are retained for 180 days per IT Rules). Inactive accounts may be deleted after notice.

Your rights (DPDP)

Access & correction of your data - from your profile.
Download a copy of your data, and erase your account - from your profile.
Withdraw consent and grievance redressal - via our Grievance Officer.

Children

HerdSetu is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly process children's data.

Security & breach

We use encryption in transit and at rest, least-privilege access, and monitoring. If a personal-data breach occurs, we will notify affected users and the Data Protection Board as required.
